The Essence
About Me
The brain used to be called the ‘magic box’ with lots of mysteries hidden in it, which even the medical community was unaware of,” says Dr. Beena Shah, a neurologist at Shah Associates. “In the last two decades, with significant development in the field of neurological disorders and their treatment, it’s like this ‘magic box’ is slowly opening up and revealing its secrets about the human brain and its function. With its help, people with neurological disorders are able to improve their quality of life.” Dr. Shah has been practicing with Shah Associates since 1995. She did her internship at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore and her residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. “I am proud to be a part of treating patients with disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, as well as headaches and back pain,” states Dr. Shah. In her leisure time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. A.K. Shah, and their two young sons.
