Alan A. Buster, Jr

Alan A. Buster Jr., FACHE, FACMPE is Chief Operating officer of MedStar Shah MSO, LLC with executive oversight for 4 practices managed by the MSO which includes over 150 physicians and advanced Practice Providers, 27 locations in five counties in Southern Maryland and all day-to-day operations.

Previously, Mr. Buster served as an Operational Vice President at St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, with oversight for all integrated operations (Lab, Imaging, Facilities, Education, Human Resources, Environmental Services, Food & Nutrition, Security, Facility Planning and Emergency Planning); Assistant Administrator with North Texas Healthcare System, Amarillo, Texas with oversight for Integrated Operations (Human Resources, Food & Nutrition, Security, Facility Planning & Education) and Administrative Director of The Knippling Education and Conference Center of Lubbock Methodist Hospital System, Lubbock, Texas which encompassed all Human Resources and Professional and Community Education responsibilities.

An alumna of Texas Tech University, Mr. Buster earned his Master of Business Administration with an advanced certificate in Health Organizational Management as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Communication Theory. Mr. Buster has been published twice in Academic Communication journals. Mr. Buster was a member of both the Football and Track teams at Texas Tech University.

Mr. Buster is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and as well as a Fellow in American College of Medical Practice Executives. He has completed the Leadership Maryland Program and Leadership Amarillo Program.

Mr. Buster has a passion for giving back to youth through leadership and youth athletics. He continues to serve as a Board Member for BECA which gives educational scholarships to high school graduating seniors as well as a Board Member for the Program Advisory Committee of the George Forrest Vocational Center (Healthcare Careers) of the St. Mary’s Public Schools System. Mr. Buster has served as both a coach and Board member. He has coached premier travel soccer for 15 years and served as a Club and State Board Member for youth soccer for 20 years. The ability to give back to the younger generation the learned commitment, dedication, social awareness and teamwork through sports is paramount to Mr. Buster.
